Society of Acupuncture Research International Conference

The Society of Acupuncture Research (SAR) will hold its 2010 International conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Chapel Hill from March 17 - 21. The conference is hosted by the UNC Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

In addition, SAR will offer two pre-conference workshops on March 18.

A satellite meeting, jointly organized by UNC Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the Kyung Hee University Acupuncture and Meridian Science Research Center (Korea), will be offered at UNC campus on March 17. View the satellite meeting flyer with the schedule of events for March 17.

Following the theme “Translational Research in Acupuncture: Bridging Science, Practice and Community,” this year’s conference will focus on research involved in speeding the application of basic and clinical research findings to patient care and its application to acupuncture research. The conference and its participants will further explore effective strategies for advancing translational research and address paradoxes emerging from the research evidence to date.

The conference is supported by the NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI) and sponsored by a long list of institutions including Duke Integrative Medicine and the Center for Integrative Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The conference will highlight:

• Presentations and lectures from 20 of the leading scholars in the field of acupuncture research
• Over 150 accepted abstracts of novel research by researchers and practitioners from the US, Asia and Europe
• Panel discussions, break-out sessions and poster sessions addressing key issues and debates within the field
• Interactive workshops for practitioners, students and educators new to the field
