The overall plan is to create two "pods" of support staff. The current help desk in Wing B will be closed, and two new help desks will open, one in 63 MacNider and one on the ground floor of Bioinformatics.
The following is a timeline of the move:
- Friday, July 31 - Help Desk in Wing B closes at the end of the day.
- Monday, August 3 - New Help Desk opens in 63 MacNider at 9 a.m.
- Thursday, August 6 - Client Services, Classroom Support, and Video Engineering staff move into their respective offices in MacNider and Bioinformatics.
- Monday, August 10 - New Help Desk opens on the ground floor of Bioinformatics, across from the auditorium (follow the signs).
There are also negotiations to migrate phone support to main campus ITS. By doing this, OIS will be able to provide 24/7 telephone support for thier customers. It will also allow OIS help desk staff to focus on walk-in customers without continuous telephone interruptions. This transition is anticipated starting early this fall.
