NC BioStart Commercialization Webinar Series
Been There, Done That: Lessons Learned by Faculty Entrepreneurs
Chancellor Holden Thorp
Thursday, May 20, noon - 1 p.m. EST
Chancellor Thorp will present his experiences in launching a technology startup based on his UNC research. Xanthon, Inc. focused on commercializing an electrochemical technology for the discovery and development process in therapeutics, medical diagnostics, agriculture and crop protection. As a promising startup with a platform technology and a solid management team, the Company raised millions of dollars in venture capital. For several reasons, the Company was not successful. Through this process, Chancellor Thorp learned many important lessons, many of which he applied in his latest venture, Viamet.
