Call for Nominations: 2010 Oliver Max Gardner Award

Chancellor Thorp invites nominations for the 2010 Oliver Max Gardner Award, presented each year by the UNC System Board of Governors to that member of the faculty of a constituent UNC institution "who, during the current scholastic year, has made the greatest contribution to the welfare of the human race." Nominations are due by Dec. 9, 2009.

The faculty Committee on Honorary Degrees and Special Awards will screen nominations from the UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, and Chancellor Thorp will transmit their recommendation to the Office of the President and the Board of Governors Committee on the Oliver Max Gardner Award.

The Chancellor's memo (which includes instructions for submitting nominations) and a list of previous recipients of this prestigious award may be found here.
