Upcoming Wireless Access Point maintenance in several SOM buildings

ITS Networking will be replacing Wireless Access Points in various School of Medicine buildings from now until Dec. 31, 2014. Signs will be posted in the affected buildings the day before the work is to be done. While work is being done in a building, wireless users in that building may experience brief outages to wireless network connectivity.

The intention of this project is to identify and remediate University-owned sensitive information (personal health information, personal identification information, etc.) wherever it lives. Voice Over IP (VoIP) Phone Transition Scheduled for Monday, December 9

VoIP phones that have been installed in School of Medicine buildings will become active on Monday, Dec. 9. Please make sure your VoIP phone remains plugged in to the wall. There is the potential for a short service outage as early as the night prior to and the entire day of the transition.

Voice Over IP (VoIP) Phone Transition Scheduled for Nov. 11

VoIP phones that have been installed in School of Medicine buildings will become active on Monday, Nov. 11. There is the potential for a short service outage as early as the night prior to and the entire day of the transition. Note: users remaining on the old phone system will no longer be able to use 5 digit dialing to reach VoIP phones. If you receive a "phone disconnected" message after attempting to use 5 digit dialing, hang up and dial 7 + the full 10 digit number (including area code).

Phone installations are in progress in Berryhill and Mary Ellen Jones will follow next week. This will complete the installation phase. The switchover is tentatively scheduled for November 11, 2013.

The UNC-1 Wireless SSID will be removed from the following School of Medicine buildings on Monday, Oct. 7: MBRB, AHEC, AHEC/MedAir, Bondurant, Taylor, and EPA. To avoid losing wireless connectivity, users should install the UNC-Secure configuration as soon as possible.
