There are two steps to implementing NAC:
- Installing an agent on your local machine.
- Activating network switches to communicate with NAC agents.
For those machines that log in to the campus AD domain, the agent was pushed out to local machines on Wednesday, February 1 at 9:00 a.m. At that time, you may have seen a pop up message "Enterasys agent successfully installed" and an "e" symbol in the lower right hand corner of the screen when you restarted your computer.
Activating the network switches to communicate with NAC agents will be rolled out building by building over a 6 week period, beginning on Monday, February 6 in the MacNider and Brinkhous-Bullitt buildings.
If you are prompted to download and install the NAC agent onto your computer please follow these instructions. This will only affect computers that are directly connected to the network using a “wired” connection. Devices connected wirelessly will not be affected by this change at this time.
Look out for emails, posters in your building, and updates to the http://help.med.unc.edu/nac website for more information.
