Purpose of the listserv:
To transmit Vital Signs, the UNC School of Medicine’s weekly e-newsletter, and urgent messages from the Dean’s Office or Office of Information Systems.

Who are members of the listserv?
All School of Medicine employees are added to the listserv at the time of their initial employment.
May others join the listserv?
Yes. Anyone may be a member. Simply go to the list site

Select "Join somnews" (at the bottom of the page) and then enter the appropriate information.
What type of message may NOT be posted to the listserv?
The listserv is designed to transmit information that is of general interest to the entire School of Medicine. Nearly all messages will be consolidated and distributed using Vital Signs, the weekly e-newsletter for SOM faculty and staff. Occasionally, messages from the Dean’s Office or Office of Information Systems will be shared.
Who may post to the listserv?
News and events should be submitted to Vital Signs by noon on Wednesday each week. There are two submission forms and users are required to sign in using their onyen and password.

The list moderator should be contacted by direct e-mail or telephone if a proposed posting is urgent. The list moderator is Katie O’Brien, katie_obrien@med.unc.edu, 919-843-3989. If she is not available, please contact the OIS Help Desk at (919) 966-1325 or help@med.unc.edu.
Can you choose not to be a member of the listserv?
Yes. A footer accompanies every message sent the listserv with instructions on how to unsubscribe by e-mail. Members may also unsubscribe through the web interface at: http://listserv.med.unc.edu/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=somnews
