Young investigator finds inspiration in science

Leah can't decide between a future career as a hairdresser or an oncologist, but she got a chance to stretch her junior investigator wings during a recent hospitalization. The 8-year-old leukemia patient teamed up with Healing and Hope Through Science for her first Science Fair.

Leah, an 8-year-old leukemia patient, gave her care team quite a thrill on October 17, 2014, when she presented her very first Science Fair while inpatient at N.C. Children's Hospital. In this video, Leah teams up with Katie Stoudemire from Healing and Hope Through Science, a program of the N.C. Botanical Garden. The program engages hospitalized children with the wonders of science, providing meaningful learning experiences and promoting healing and hope through positive connections with nature.
