The SECU Family House has 40 rooms and charges $35/night for regular rooms and $50/night for a suite. If a patient/family has a financial hardship, charges may be reduced, but rooms are not available for free.

If you have a patient/family that you feel could benefit from staying at the Family House, please use the latest referral form at this link. Starting May 1, 2013, the Family House will return any referrals not using this form. Visit www.secufamilyhouse.org/hospital for more information on referrals.

Please also note the following about the SECU Family House:

  • There is currently a waiting list
  • There is a limit on the number of people that can stay in a room (3 in regular rooms, and 4 in suites, including children)
  • Any departments/staff in the hospital that want to help a patient pay for a stay are welcome to do so
  • The Family House asks for our help in not referring those we know to be socially inappropriate (drinking/drug problems, those who can’t respect boundaries or others’ belongings).

If you have any questions about the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals or the referral process, please call Janice Ross, House Manager, at 919-932-8008.
