Please join us in congratulating Mauri Williams on her appointment as UNC Health Care’s new Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO).
Mauri has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, management, operations, and performance improvement at UNC Health Care. She managed UNC Hospitals’ Newborn Critical Care Center for more than 20 years.
Most recently, Mauri worked as a Senior Clinical Management Engineer leading the Nursing Performance Improvement department and deploying Lean/Six Sigma across the organization. She is a Board Certified Nurse Executive, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and Process Improvement TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, among many other talents.
As CNIO, Mauri will report directly to me and provide nursing oversight on all UNC Health Care information systems that assist nurses and other clinicians in the delivery of optimal patient care, education and research. She also will work closely with clinical and nursing leaders at each UNC Health Care entity to prioritize requests for the development and optimization of clinical workflows and support the development of UNC Health Care system-wide policies and procedures. Additionally, Mauri already is a subject matter expert (SME) on the Epic@UNC Analytics team, where she shares her expertise in data management, reporting and analytics.
Many of you worked with Carolyn Viall Donohue, our previous CNIO. Carolyn left UNC Health Care in September to take a nursing leadership position at Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, S.C. We wish Carolyn the best and thank her for her service to UNC Health Care.
As CNIO, Mauri’s office will be in building 700 at our Eastowne Campus in Chapel Hill. Please join me in congratulating Mauri on her appointment!
