Application of the Attendance and Tardiness Policy

Generally, absences and tardiness due to the severe weather on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Feb. 12, 13, and 14) will not count as an occurrence. Any occurrences being counted for this period must be reviewed with Employee Relations at 919-966-2261.

Accounting for Off-Site Worked Time – Wednesday-Friday, Feb. 12, 13, and 14

Employees pre-approved by management to perform essential work from home or at a remote location will be paid for the time. Hourly employees will be required to provide an accounting of all hours worked and exempt employees must indicate their period of engagement and productivity during the inclement weather. All externally worked hours will be entered by the time keeper and must be approved by management.

Compensation for Hours Worked during the Recent Severe Weather Emergency

Employees working their regular shift and additional schedules during the severe weather will be compensated for their time and effort.

  • Hourly paid employees who remained on station will be compensated for all worked time including applicable shift differentials and overtime. Rest time and meal periods while on the premises is not considered work time, and will not be compensated.
  • Exempt employees below the unclassified management level who remained on station will be compensated at their base rate for the additional hours above their regular schedule.
  • Exempt unclassified employees in direct patient care may receive compensation for extra work with appropriate review and approval by management
  • Exempt employees who are pre-approved to work at home will have their time cards adjusted accordingly by the timekeeper and the manager will verify and approve.
