Thanks to everyone who worked incredibly hard to make Epic@UNC Go-Live #1 a success so far. I wanted to share the note I sent to the Board of Directors late last week.
Dr. Roper shared the following message with the UNC Health Care Board of Directors on April 14, 2014:
Greetings,
I am pleased to inform you that the first week of our Epic@UNC installation was an unquestioned success. Our installation of Epic is one of the largest ever recorded and Tracy Parham, our Chief Information Officer, confirms that we are at least a week ahead of our implementation schedule. Representatives from Epic, Deloitte, and other vendor support teams noted how well-prepared, positive and successful our teams were in handling this transition.
Each day last week I had the opportunity to see Go-Live first-hand and spoke to the Command Center team, faculty, residents and staff, and I am proud of the dedication and positive attitudes I witnessed. We were ready and embraced this challenge and continue to move forward with the implementation. We are thankful for all of your support.
Our implementation is not complete and while we are optimistic we are also remaining vigilant. Major hurdles to address before knowing we have succeeded are smooth patient flow, returning to near-normal clinic throughput and processing clean bills/receiving payments.
In the weeks ahead, we will continue fixing issues in Epic@UNC to ensure we are prepared for Go-Live #2 at Rex and UNC Physicians Network east practices in June.
Please join me in congratulating and applauding the Core Team, our Information Services Division (ISD) leaders and everyone across our Go-Live #1 locations who worked so hard to make Epic@UNC a success.
Sincerely,
Bill Roper
