Courtesy Shuttle
A courtesy shuttle is available for patients and employees of the School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Schedule a ride by calling 919-966-5885.
Pick-up and drop-off locations are as follows:
- UNC Hospitals (Memorial, Children’s, Women’s, Neurosciences, Cancer), Lineberger Cancer Center, the School of Medicine, ACC, MacNider Hall, and Family Medicine
- Meadowmont, Spine and Imaging Center, Carolina Crossing, the Quadrangle Building (Carolina Advanced Health, etc.), Carolina Pointe I and II, Highgate
Wait times will vary based on call volume and driver location, so we recommend calling ahead to schedule a ride.
Emergency Ride Back Program
Emergency Ride Back Program can be utilized by employees to return to their vehicle in a Park and Ride lot by calling 919-966-5885. Hospital Policy 0790 states that to use this service, the following criteria must be met: “The immediate need of a Park and Ride user to have access to their vehicle in order to respond to a sudden and unexpected situation which has or could result in an injury or serious illness to a dependent living in the same household.”
This service cannot be utilized for other non-emergent situations including, but not limited to:
- A late or missed appointment
- A late or missed pick up/drop off of children at day care centers
- A missed bus
- A request due to inclement weather
- A situation due to lack of planning
Abuse of this service may result in the notification of the employee’s manager
Evening/Security Shuttles
Evening/Security shuttles are available daily beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Children’s Hospital entrance. These shuttles will take riders to any on campus parking lot or parking deck in addition to Park and Ride lots. Because they are on demand, there may be a wait time associated with riding the shuttle. Speak to Guest Services at the Children’s Hospital desk or call Hospital Police dispatch to inquire about wait times.
Early Morning Park and Ride Pick-Ups
Direct service to UNC Hospitals is available before the start of Chapel Hill Transit bus service at the following times and locations:
- Hedrick Building: 4:15 a.m., 4:45 a.m., 5:15 a.m., 5:50 a.m., 6:20 a.m.
- Eubanks Park and Ride: 4:30 a.m.
