At the same time, the program aims to leverage the skills and experience of U.S. military veterans and other qualified applicants who want to put their medical training to work. The mission of the UNC PA Program is to promote high-quality, accessible, patient-centered health care for the people of North Carolina and the nation through excellence in education, scholarship, and clinical service.

The UNC PA program is committed to the health care and workforce needs of North Carolinians and will use an inter-professional approach to prepare skilled and compassionate health care practitioners across the continuum of life. Set to launch in the spring of 2016 with 20 students, the UNC PA Program will feature a two-year curriculum that will include clinical training throughout the UNC Health Care System as well as primary care sites across the states (e.g., community health centers).
