The UNC Hospitals Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is proud to announce the addition of a new model of treatment based on the Satir Family Systems Therapy, which emphasizes the role of family support in the recovery process.

Thanks to a grant provided by the Volunteer Services Department, ASAP was able to offer training and treatment in the Family Systems Model. After three years, the program had tremendous success, offering private family sessions and a multifamily systems group.

ASAP has grown substantially in recent years, working collaboratively with many of the medical outpatient clinics and the Department of Psychiatry. In addition to the new Family Systems treatment model, ASAP also utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and enhancement therapy, experiential therapy, DBT recovery skills, and the Seeking Safety model (trauma-based treatment).

The Family Systems model takes both self- and provider referrals. ASAP is located at 1101 Weaver Dairy, Rd., Suite 103, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, 27514. To contact their office, please call 984-974-6320.
