We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bob Gianforcaro has accepted the new role of Executive Medical Director for Population Health for UNC Health Care effective July 1, 2016.
As our country makes the rapid transition of reimbursement from volume to value, UNC Health Care has created the leadership and infrastructure to successfully make that transition. Dr. Gianforcaro has served as a key leader in helping us prepare, and will devote his full attention to help lead and manage our population care management and value efforts, including working closely with our UNC Health Alliance Clinically Integrated Network and the new UNC Senior Alliance, which has applied to become a Medicare Accountable Care Organization. Dr. Gianforcaro was the founding Executive Medical Director of Triangle Physician Network which expanded to the UNC Physician Network. He then became president and CEO. During his tenure, UNCPN expanded from 12 practices and 36 providers to 47 practices and 209 providers. He made quality one of UNCPN’s highest goals and achievements.
Dr. Vince Hoellerich, System Executive Medical Director Specialty Services & Clinical Integration Initiatives, will serve as interim president and CEO of UNCPN.
