After concluding a national search, we are pleased to announce that Scott W. Savage, PharmD, MS, has accepted the position of Director of Pharmacy for UNC Hospitals and Clinics.


After concluding a national search, we are pleased to announce that Scott W. Savage, PharmD, MS, has accepted the position of Director of Pharmacy for UNC Hospitals and Clinics.

Scott received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at Chapel Hill and his Master’s degree from the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Scott also completed a two-year Health System Pharmacy Administration residency from the OSU Medical Center.

Scott has been an employee of UNC Hospitals since 2008 and has held a variety of pharmacy leadership roles. Most recently Scott served as the associate director of Pharmacy over the UNC Hospitals Shared Services Center (SSC) Pharmacy. As such, Scott’s responsibilities included Retail Pharmacy Services, the Medication Assistance Program, Pharmacy Supply Chain Management, Compounding, and Pharmacy Benefit Management operations. Scott is also recognized as an assistant professor of clinical education within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

Prior to joining UNC Hospitals, Scott served in pharmacy leadership and management roles in other academic medical centers and a community hospital. He is an active member of several national pharmacy organizations and enjoys developing and implementing new approaches to integrating pharmacy services in all facets of patient care.
