Adult and adolescent patients presenting to emergency departments for concerns of sexual abuse/assault are common. Care for this patient population requires specialized training for medical and nursing providers. The SANE training provides a strong foundation for nurses to acquire the needed knowledge and skills in providing this specialized care to a vulnerable patient population.

If you are interested in becoming a SANE, training will be held on campus March 27 – March 31 in Carrington Hall, Room L700, at 120 N. Medical Drive.

Scholarships are available. If you have questions or are seeking advice to decide whether to become a SANE, contact SANE coordinator Koren Garrity at koren.garrity@unchealth.unc.edu.
