UNC Health Care is implementing a system-wide ‘No Show and Late Cancellation’ policy in its outpatient clinics and services. Beginning Aug. 15, if a patient misses his/her appointment and does not notify the outpatient clinic/service, the patient will receive a ‘no-show’ letter to remind them of our policy and provide information about cancelling and rescheduling appointments.

- It is important that schedulers and clinic managers review the new policy and take the steps to properly record appointment statuses at the end of the day to ensure patients do not receive no-show notifications in error.
- Note:
- Patients who miss an appointment and do not notify the outpatient clinic/service will continue to receive an automated phone call.
- This policy applies to all UNC Health Care entities using Epic@UNC.
