Facial tissues, baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, moist wipes, napkins, paper towels, sanitary napkins, tampons, non-organic materials, plastics, diapers, chuck sheets, and “flushable” wipes of any type are considered solid waste and are to be disposed of in the trash can.
Even though wipes and other products may be labeled as “flushable” these types of items do not break down appropriately in the sanitary system and have repeatedly caused major blockages in our sanitary drainage lines.
The first floor Neurosciences currently has several restrooms out of service due to these types of products being inappropriately disposed of which has resulted in blockages, sanitary backups, and overflows. Only toilet paper is appropriate for disposal via the toilet. Please educate staff and visitors to refrain from disposing of any products in the sanitary system, other than toilet paper.
