Feedback soared during our May contest with 61% of all observations having feedback delivered. Feedback occurring in different job classes represented over half of all feedback given.

This measure is an important indicator of the growth of our culture of patient safety as we develop more comfort talking with our colleagues about hand hygiene and other patient safety measures.

Feedback was provided for 66.8% of all inpatient observations (highest this fiscal year!), 51.3% of all outpatient/procedural observations, and 61.5% of all OR observations.

Tips/scripting for providing feedback is here. If your unit or job class is having difficulty achieving 90% compliance, this action planning tool (example paper tool inpatient, outpatient/procedural, electronic submission) is available for you to use and hand hygiene advisory members will be available to assist you in developing strategies for improvement (please request assistance by emailing hand@unch.unc.edu).

In the month of May, Inpatient areas achieved 96.1% compliance overall with 95% of participating inpatient units and 100% of the job classes meeting the goal of at least 90% compliance!Outpatient/procedural areas achieved 95.1% compliance overall with 93.8% of participating outpatient/procedural areas and 77.8% of the job classes meeting the goal of at least 90% compliance. ORs achieved 92.8% compliance overall.

Thank you for your partnership and continued dedication to infection prevention.
