Activity at the UNC REX Healthcare Booth at OUT!Raleigh

This inclusive and action packed event was family friendly with activities for all ages. In the last seven years, the event has become an integral part of Raleigh’s downtown culture, promoting diversity awareness as well as a sense of inclusiveness for the LGBT community and its allies, both inside and outside of the Triangle.

Each year the event is more successful. In 2018, almost 62,000 people poured into Raleigh’s City Plaza to celebrate the LGBT community and our friends and families; the 2019 crowd is estimated at over 65,000. At the UNC Health Care booth, we spoke with 876 of those event participants, 19 of whom received referrals to UNC Health Care services.

For the 3rd year in a row, UNC REX Healthcare was an event sponsor and with the LGBTQ Employee Resource Groups was able to organize 20 employees from UNC REX Healthcare, UNC Medical Center, UNC Wakebrook, and UNC Physicians Network to staff. Over 50 UNC Health Care co-workers and employees stopped by to say how pleased they were to see UNC Health Care was at the event.

Your colleagues at UNC Health were also active in bringing employees, co-workers and visitors attention to LGBTQ Health issues during LGBT Health Awareness week in March of this year. This flyer summarizes the work and organization that went into that program.
