Employee Resource Groups have arrived at UNC Medical Center and SOM! Employee Resource Groups provide employees with an opportunity to pursue their passion, create value for UNC Health Care, and build skills in leadership, project management, presentation design, public speaking, and teamwork.

Employee Resource Groups connect employees who want to create a culture of inclusion that focuses on patient satisfaction, employee engagement, recruitment, and retention and support our Mission, Vision, and Values. Employee Resource Groups form around such common interests as military service, cultural background, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, generations, religious beliefs, disability status, or age. Employee Resource Groups exist in ~ 85% of Fortune 500 companies and are an employee engagement tool.

What Does an Employee Resource Group Do?

In health care, Employee Resource Groups are another way to connect with our patient communities by focusing on a variety of employee and patient care matters, such as, addressing access issues for patient communities, building diverse candidate pools, cultural competency training, and celebrating our similarities and differences.

At UNC Medical Center, employees in your African-American, Latinx, LGBTQ, Veteran, Minority leaders, and Faith/Spirituality have been working to create plans and programs that will build patient satisfaction an employee engagement
