Congratulations to Dr. Luigi Pascarella, Associate Professor of Surgery, for his selection as the new Co-Director of the Application Phase in the School of Medicine starting November 1.

Dr. Luigi Pascarella, Associate Professor of Surgery

Dr. Pascarella has worked in academic settings for more than a decade, completing his surgery training at Duke University and then joining the faculty at the University of Iowa where he was Program Director of the General Surgery Residency.

Since joining the Division of Vascular Surgery at UNC in 2017, Dr. Pascarella has been very active in medical education and the School of Medicine community. He serves as Co-Director of the UNC School of Medicine Hospital, Interventional and Surgical Care Course (HISC) and Director of the Surgery Block within the Application Phase.

He is active in multiple School of Medicine initiatives, including serving as Co-Chair of the LCME Accreditation Learning Environment subcommittee and as the Liaison for Diversity in the Department of Surgery. He is the recipient of many clinical and teaching honors, including Student Teaching Awards every year since joining the faculty at UNC. Please welcome Dr. Pascarella in his new role.
