Annual enrollment for the State Health Plan is underway through Nov. 19 for UNC Health Care’s state employees. A new benefit for 2020 will offer a 25% reimbursement to all UNC Health Care state employees who enroll in the 80/20 plan when they visit a UNC Health Care or UNC Health Alliance provider.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, the 25% reimbursement applies to both employees and their covered dependents on the 80/20 plan on all out-of-pocket co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance with UNC Health Care providers. The reimbursement also will be available at all UNC Health Care Pharmacies and the mail-order pharmacy.
This new benefit, which will be offered by UNC Health Care as a pilot program for 2020, will be provided in the form of a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). The HRA is in addition to the Health Insurance Special Pay (HISP), which has been offered to UNC Health Care state employees for many years to supplement premiums.
