S: ’90 Seconds With’ spent 2019 connecting you with School of Medicine priorities including: School of Medicine plans for a more diverse, inclusive environment…
C: I think we all know that having a diverse group of people by way of cultural backgrounds diversity of thought in all the different ways that we can approach either a situation, or a research question, or a learning opportunity, or the care of a patient; diversity enhances who we are.

S: How School of Medicine finances are managed…
C: One of the things that I think comes with being a leading institution is to have a sustainable financial model because we’re going to have to continue to do that to continue to be a leader.

S: When research reaches major milestones…
C: Research in the School of Medicine continues to remain very strong. We just closed on fiscal year nineteen and the numbers show that we have greatly increased our research funding.

S: How the Well-Being program helps improve your work life…
C:
The system-wide program grew out of a physician mental health program that was initially funded in 2012; expanded to a School of Medicine initiative, and now as of last year, is a system-wide program.

S: Opportunities to partner with the School of Medicine’s philanthropic arm to meet strategic goals…
C: The foundation has served as the philanthropic partner for UNC School of Medicine and UNC hospitals. We raise money for patient care, education, and, research but, specifically, we help raise money for scholarships, for fellowships, for professorships, and research.

S: How we’re working better together on behalf of our patients…
C: We do a lot to learn from others across the healthcare system to work better together on behalf of patients.
