On April 16th, the UNC Voice Center and the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery will celebrate World Voice Day! Each year we use this day to recognize how critical our voice is to our communication and the important role it plays in our daily lives. Awareness and self-care are crucial to preserving a healthy voice, especially for musicians, actors, teachers, and public speakers. This year’s World Voice Day theme asks the public to focus on your voice. A few ways to keep your vocal cords healthy include:

  • Hydrate
  • Get adequate sleep each night
  • Avoid screaming in noisy situations
  • Talk to your doctor/see one of our voice doctors if you experience hoarseness over 2 weeks

For more information about voice, please visit our booth at Carrboro Open Streets on Sunday, April 19thfrom 12:00-4:00pm.
