UNC’s new SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination ) Patient Care Suite opens September 1.
UNC’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program aims to provide timely, compassionate, culturally competent, evidence-based medical care and forensic evaluation to individuals who have experienced sexual violence. We are excited to announce the opening of UNC’s SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination) Patient Care Suite. This is a dedicated patient care space where medical care and forensic evidence collection can be performed in a private, quiet, and calm space located adjacent to the emergency department. The suite consists of a consultation room, an examination room, and a private patient bathroom and shower. The SAFE suite opens for patient care on September 1, 2020.
