In an effort to broaden participation in clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccines and treatments, Michael Herce, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, participated in a Q&A style video in Spanish.
The video, which has been shared on multiple UNC social media channels, is an effort to reach out to our local Latino communities about participating in COVID-19 clinical trials. The Latino communities in North Carolina and across the U.S. have been disproportionally affected by the coronavirus, which makes it even more important that vaccines and treatments developed are effective in this population.
In this video, Dr. Herce answers questions about clinical trials, whether they are safe, and why it is important for people in the Latino community to participate. Please share this video to help UNC’s Department of Infectious Diseases reach out to the Latino community.
This is the second installment in a serious of videos being produced about participating in COVID-19 clinical trials. Watch the first video featuring UNC Department of Medicine Chair, Ronald Falk, MD, and the leader of UNC’s Moderna vaccine phase III clinical trial, Cindy Gay, MD.
