UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Carolina Cancer Screening Initiative and the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network are partnering with the NC DHHS Cancer Prevention and Control Branch to increase colorectal cancer screening through evidence-based interventions and other strategies in partnership with NC Federally Qualified Health Centers and the American Cancer Society. The members of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Carolina Cancer Screening Initiative and Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network are partnering with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Cancer Prevention and Control Branch on an application for a CDC-funded Colorectal Cancer Control Program.
The North Carolina Partnerships to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening (NC PICCS) will use the five-year grant, with $691,367 in funding for the first year, to increase colorectal cancer screening through implementing evidence-based interventions and other supporting strategies in partnership with NC Federally Qualified Health Centers and the American Cancer Society. It also will provide screening and follow-up services for program-eligible people.
Researchers from UNC’s Lineberger, led by Dan Reuland, MD, MPH, will serve as the NC PICCS Evaluation and Technical Assistance Team through a sub-contract. Additional faculty and staff serving on the UNC team include Teri Malo, PhD, Shana Ratner, MD, Renée Ferrari, PhD, Mary Wangen, MPH, Catherine Rohweder, DrPH, Jennifer Leeman, DrPH, MDiv, Alison Brenner, PhD, MPH, and Stephanie Wheeler, PhD, MPH.
