Program Description
This one to two year postdoctoral program prepares scholars for successful academic positions within the field of MCH. It enhances scholars’ proficiency in MCH research (including scientific publication), teaching (including curriculum development), conceptual knowledge, communication, and professionalism/leadership. Postdoctoral scholars will work with MCH faculty and an array of partners, including those from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, state/local Title V agencies, and others. Each postdoctoral scholar will work with a mentoring committee. The mentoring committee will include a primary faculty mentor in the Department of Maternal and Child Health who is matched to the scholar based on research and teaching interests. Two additional faculty from the Department will serve as secondary mentors. Successful completion of the postdoctoral program entails meeting learning objectives set by the postdoctoral scholar and the mentoring committee.

Eligibility
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold a permanent resident visa. Candidates who have completed doctoral training, or are close to completing doctoral training, in varied disciplines are eligible to apply. Although candidates close to completing their doctoral work may apply, the doctoral work must be completed before actually beginning the postdoctoral program. Preference will be given to candidates with research oriented doctorates (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD) or clinical degrees (e.g., MD, DO, DDS), and those focusing on MCH work within the U.S. Candidates from historically disadvantaged groups by virtue of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or other related factors are particularly encouraged to apply.
Support
This postdoctoral program provides salary, health insurance, and funds to travel to attend an annual MCH professional meeting.
