The Foundation Phase of the School of Medicine’s curriculum seeks basic-science co-directors for the following blocks of the Medical Science Courses for fall 2021: (1) MS1 Hematology, (2) MS2 Neurologic, (3) MS2 Endocrine, and (4) and MS2 Reproductive (see below for specific details for each block). The basic-science co-director may be a basic-science faculty member or a clinical faculty member with a basic science focus and will work with the current clinical co-director. Duties for each co-director will include curriculum design and scheduling, content delivery, small-group management, assessment development, and attendance at monthly Foundation Phase meetings. Ideal candidates will be familiar with block content, the learning management system (Sakai), and assessment systems and mechanisms (e.g., ExamSoft). Co-directors are expected to be in attendance at a majority of the block sessions (Monday through Friday, 8:AM to 12:PM) to monitor instruction and interact with students.

Self-nominations as well as nominations by chairs, chiefs, or colleagues are welcome. Top candidates will be interviewed in January. Nominations and applications (a statement of interest and CV) will be accepted by Kurt Gilliland, Associate Dean of Curriculum (kogillil@med.unc.edu), until December 18.
