Providers will still be required to complete training that is specific to their role with the School of Medicine.

UNC Health System Compliance Office, UNC Hospitals leadership, and the School of Medicine leaders collaborated to simplify the annual training requirements for School of Medicine credentialed providers. The revised process will ensure credentialed providers are receiving concise training that will fulfill the annual requirements for UNC Health System and School of Medicine.

Historically, providers were required to complete 15 training modules with similar content from UNC Health System LMS system and the SOM Environmental, Health & Safety system. The revised, required training modules have been reduced to just 9 training modules thereby decreasing the amount of time to fulfill annual training requirements, and they are being delivered from one source, LMS, instead of two.

Credentialed providers will complete the following annual training requirements in LMS:

  1. Fire Safety
  2. BloodBorne Pathogens
  3. Preventing the Spread of TB
  4. Infection Control of Health Care Personnel
  5. Emergency Preparedness
  6. Incident Reporting, Hazard Communication & Safety
  7. Patient Privacy
  8. Information Security
  9. Code of Conduct & Compliance

Completion reports will be sent to School of Medicine on a daily basis to ensure provider training transcripts are accurate for UNC Health System and the School of Medicine.

Please note, providers will still be required to complete training that is specific to their role with the School of Medicine. These additional training requirements can be accessed via the Environmental, Health and Safety system.
