William Wood, MD, professor of Medicine, and Nigel Key, MD, Harold R. Roberts Distinguished Professor of Medicine, authored abstracts that were highlighted at American Society of Hematology press events, and Alisa Wolberg, PhD, professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, served as Scientific Co-Chair of the meeting.

Research produced by UNC School of Medicine investigators was prominent at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), which was held virtually this week. Not only did UNC SOM have a strong presence during abstract sessions, two abstracts were chosen by the ASH to be featured in press events.

William Wood, MD, professor of Medicine, and UNC Lineberger member, was the first author of an abstract titled, “Outcomes of Patients with Hematologic Malignancies and COVID-19 Infection: A Report from the ASH Research Collaborative Data Hub.” Nigel Key, MD, Harold R. Roberts Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Director of the UNC Blood Research Center, and UNC Lineberger member, co-authored an abstract titled, “Effects of Tranexamic Acid Prophylaxis on Bleeding Outcomes in Hematologic Malignancy: The a-TREAT Trial.”
