The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this NHGRI R25 program is to help recruit individuals with specific specialty or disciplinary backgrounds to research careers in biomedical, behavioral and clinical sciences. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) will support innovative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences.

Be prepared for cyber threats and scams during COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts now and throughout 2021. Cyber security experts expect malicious actors to launch new vaccine-themed phishing campaigns.

Two monoclonal antibody preparations have received Emergency Use Authorization for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in high risk individuals. At the Medical Center, these treatments are currently being provided at the Therapeutic Infusion Center in Pittsboro for adult patients, and at Blue Ridge for pediatric patients.

Using a custom-built exposure chamber, UNC School of Medicine and EPA scientists tested consumer-grade masks and improvised face coverings to show how effective they can be at protecting individuals from airborne particles of similar size to those carrying SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
