The School of Medicine’s MD program is seeking to diversify the educators who teach our medical students. We seek a postdoctoral fellow who will teach in the medical school curriculum for an approximately 4-week block during the 2021-22 academic year and during this time be occupied for 75% of the time. The principal investigator (PI) will receive funding to support the salary of the postdoctoral fellow for the one-month effort.


The School of Medicine’s MD program is seeking to diversify the educators who teach our medical students. We seek a postdoctoral fellow who will teach in the medical school curriculum for an approximately 4-week block during the 2021-22 academic year and during this time be occupied for 75% of the time. The principal investigator (PI) will receive funding to support the salary of the postdoctoral fellow for the one-month effort.

Fellows can come from any department on campus (i.e., within any school within UNC-Chapel Hill). Ideal candidates will have a PhD degree with a background in the biological or physical sciences and an interest in teaching in their career. In addition, a candidate may have one or several organ systems of interest (e.g., immunology, hematology, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neuroscience, endocrine, or reproductive, as well as general introductory science topics). Duties will include lecturing, joining a faculty member in teaching a small discussion group or laboratory session, holding office hours and review sessions, and being a part of the block leadership team. The selected candidate will be paired with a basic-science faculty mentor; will have a 3-person education mentoring committee; will learn about curriculum, assessment, and technology; and will interact with medical students both formally and informally.
