Congratulations Gita Mody, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The American College of Surgeons and its Scholarship Program Committee announced Dr. Mody, as one of only four Faculty Research Fellowship award recipients for 2022-2024.
“Receiving the American College of Surgeons Faculty Research Fellowship Award for my project ‘Improving Thoracic Surgery Using Electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes’ is a great honor,” says Dr. Mody. “I am thankful to the thoracic surgery service physicians, nurses, APPs, and research coordinators for helping support my preliminary work on this application.”
The two-year faculty research fellowships are offered by the American College of Surgeons through the generosity of Fellows, Chapters, and friends of the College, to surgeons entering academic careers in surgery or a surgical specialty. The fellowship is to assist a surgeon in the establishment of their research program under mentorship with the goal of transitioning to becoming an independent investigator. Applicants should have demonstrated their potential to work as independent investigators. The fellowship award is $40,000 per year for each of two years, to support the research.
