UNC Health’s Redesign Team is pleased to announce that Lavinia Kolarczyk, MD, FASA, has been named Medical Director for Perioperative Care Redesign, effective March 1. In this new role, Dr. Kolarczyk will lead our System’s Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) program, which works to implement evidence-based surgical pathways across UNC Health and has proven to help our patients recover faster, have fewer infections and ICU days, and require less opioid medicine after surgery. In addition, she will serve as a physician consultant for other Care Redesign programs that will benefit from a perioperative physician’s perspective.
