Nelson Oyesiku, MD, PhD, continued a tradition at the journal Neurosurgery, penning a letter as the editor-in-chief transitioned from one prestigious university to another with a fitting cover image for the upcoming issue.

This past December, Nelson Oyesiku, MD, PhD, FACS, was appointed Chair of the UNC School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery, effective March 15, 2021. He officially joins the faculty April 1.

As editor-in-chief of the journal Neurosurgery, Dr. Oyesiku wrote a letter about his transition from Emory to UNC-Chapel Hill, and he upheld a tradition at the journal to put a fitting image on the forthcoming issue of the journal when the editor moves to a new home. He chose the Old Well.

You can read his letter and why he chose that image at the journal website. You can read the UNC School of Medicine announcement of Dr. Oyesiku’s hire as chair and professor here.
