UNC Medical Center Occupational Health COVID-19 project will now take vaccine status into account when determining if employees need to quarantine after an exposure.

This may mean some vaccinated employees can continue to work following a COVID-19 exposure. We are also no longer quarantining employees (regardless of vaccination status) who have a symptomatic household member with a COVID-19 test pending.

Employees (even if they are vaccinated) are still required to call the OHS COVID-19 hotline at 964-215-5668 for the following reasons:

  • A positive household member
  • Exposure to a positive COVID-19 positive patient, in which PPE precautions were breached
  • Exposure to a positive person in the community

Symptoms that could be consistent with COVID-19: cough, fever, chills shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea, or vomiting.
