We recognize that this situation is changing rapidly, and a team of experts from across UNC Health and the School of Medicine are meeting to examine our current policies and practices that were implemented at the start of the pandemic. This group will make recommendations to support our hospitals and practices if/when these policies and practices should be adjusted. As these recommendations are finalized in the coming weeks, we will share this information widely.

On Tuesday, April 27, the CDC released new public health recommendations for individuals that are fully vaccinated (>2 weeks past their final COVID-19 vaccine shot). While we are excited to see these new recommendations, please note that they only provide guidance on mask wearing outside of work. To ensure the safety of our patients, co-workers and visitors, these recommendations do not apply within the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health’s hospitals, clinics and administrative offices.

  • Please continue to follow our Universal Masking Policy until further notice.
  • UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine strongly recommends that our co-workers and patients receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Visit yourshot.org for details on COVID-19 vaccines and visit this link to schedule your shot.
