The John B. Graham Student Research Society would like youto save the date for UNC School of Medicine’s 53nd annual Student Research Day, which will take place on Friday, April 16th, 2021. Dr. Ofer Levy of Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard will present his research on precision medicine and vaccine technology from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. We still need judges to help judge student posters from 3:00 – 5:00PM!

The John B. Graham Student Research Society would like you to save the date for UNC School of Medicine’s 53nd annual Student Research Day, which will take place on Friday, April 16th, 2021. Historically, this has been a symposium-style event highlighting the research achievements of UNC medical students, giving them the opportunity to present their work and discuss it with faculty and fellow students. Due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, this year the event will be held virtually, with breakout rooms for presenters to showcase their work via live video sessions. Student presentations will cover research projects in the fields of basic science, clinical science, and public health.
We reach out now primarily to recruit faculty judges to help make the day a success. Judges provide critical, formative feedback to medical students, which will help them further develop their scientific thinking and presentation skills. If you are interested in serving as a judge for a one hour block, please use the following form to submit your information and judging preferences: https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5hH3JcVgKatnwOi
The schedule of the day is as follows. We will begin with our first ever virtual Landes Merrimon Lecture, presented by Dr. Ofer Levy from 12:00-1. We are very excited to host Dr. Levy, a physician in the Infectious Disease department at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He will present on his research regarding precision medicine and vaccine technology as well as his active role in the U.S. COVID-19 vaccine development, approval, and roll-out. All are welcome to attend this lecture.
Please attend this lecture using the following Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/92552638903?pwd=K2R1TmRvWWdTNWhEZWhhNnI4ZE0xZz09
Next, at 2:00pm, student oral presentations will begin. We will end with a student poster session from 3:00-5:00pm. The role of the faculty judges will be to evaluate both the quality of the students’ research and the effectiveness with which the students present their research.
