Kelly Brown, MBA, has been named Interim Associate Dean and Chief Information Officer for the UNC School of Medicine. Kelly began in her new position on September 1.

Uduak Ndoh, MBA, who held the position of Associate Dean and Chief Information Officer for the last five years, has accepted the role of Vice Chancellor for Information Technology, Health Sciences and Deputy Chief Information Officer at the University of Pittsburgh.

Kelly brings more than 15 years of experience in the field of information technology with a background in both healthcare and academic settings.  Kelly came to the UNC School of Medicine in 2016 as a Manager of Client Services. Since 2017, she has served as Director of Client Services and Support, managing more than 40 team members who provide IT support across the School of Medicine.

Kelly has played a key role in multiple major UNC educational, clinical and research-oriented initiatives during her time in the School of Medicine. She was integral to the IT service reorganization, which brought talented technicians from all over the School of Medicine into a centralized team. She has worked alongside colleagues in UNC Health on projects like email directory synchronization to improve collaboration between the two organizations. In addition, she has partnered with UNC’s Information Technology Services department to launch a wide range of upgrades and services benefiting the campus community, such as the implementation of Office 365 as a mail and collaboration tool and the rollout of ServiceNow for improved IT service management. She has overseen broad technical project efforts such as the Windows 7 to Windows 10 migration. Through her efforts in these and other projects, Kelly has built strong working relationships with both technical and academic leaders throughout UNC-Chapel Hill and the UNC Health system.

A nationwide search for a permanent Associate Dean and CIO will launch soon. Please join us in congratulating Kelly on this new role.
