Wesley Burks, MD, Dean of the UNC School of Medicine and CEO of UNC Health, opened the event with remarks and the students also heard from Executive Dean Dr. Cristy Page and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education Dr. Beat Steiner. The event’s keynote address was provided by Kimberly Nichols, MD, Associate Dean, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Faculty Access and Success.

After each student came to the stage to receive his or her white coat, the event concluded with a recitation of The Physician’s Pledge.
