Being and Belonging – Perspectives in North Carolina brings together artists of Latin American heritage from across the state.
The FedEx Global Education Center will host an interactive community open house event, Being & Belonging – Perspectives in North Carolina, on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is open to the public and will include a self-guided tour, art exhibit, a scavenger hunt and a raffle.
The Being and Belonging art exhibit brings together 13 artists of Latin American heritage from across the state of North Carolina whose work evokes questions of identity, environment and home. The artists draw inspiration from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico. The exhibition harnesses the vast story-telling potential of visual art through a range of mediums, including print, paint and ceramics.
UNC Global organized the event in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of the Americas. Arts Everywhere, Department of Art and Art History, Latina/o Studies Program, Curriculum in Global Studies and the Carolina Latinx Center provided additional support.
The FedEx Global Education Center is located at 301 Pittsboro St. in Chapel Hill, and free parking is available under the building.
