Gracie Howell, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial participant, continues her journey. Hear her story as she returns nine months later to receive her booster shot and why she values participating in COVID-19 research.


In September 2020, Gracie Howell, a Chapel Hill resident, joined the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial site at the UNC School of Medicine. It was a double-blinded, placebo-controlled study, and Gracie received the placebo without knowing it. She received a vaccine shot in January 2021, when early trial results showed impressive vaccine effectiveness. Hear her story as she returns nine months later to receive her booster shot.
