New spaces for medical students to study and work are now open on the first floors of NC Memorial Hospital and NC Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Cam Enarson, Vice Dean for Strategic Initiatives, emceed a grand opening ceremony for the new spaces on Friday, Oct. 29.
Amanda Antono and Josh Ewy, co-presidents of UNC School of Medicine Student Government, and Lily Wilkinson, MS 4 co-class president, were on hand to represent students.
Antono provided remarks on behalf of the students and thanked UNC Hospitals for its support of medical students and for the new spaces.
Rowell Daniels, UNC Hospitals Chief Operating Officer, provided remarks on behalf of Janet Hadar, President of UNC Hospitals. Rowell noted the longstanding partnership between the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals, including medical student and resident education.
Dr. Beat Steiner, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education, and Dr. Georgette Dent, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, provided remarks on behalf of the medical school. Dr. Steiner thanked hospital leadership and noted that the new spaces quadrupled the number of available workstations for medical students in UNC Hospitals.
