UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine value the rich diversity of its teammates, physicians, faculty, staff, researchers and learners. UNC Health and UNC SOM are committed to creating an equitable and inclusive environment where all of its diverse members can thrive in their work and learning environments. An important step in creating this environment is to understand everyone’s perspectives regarding their work and learning experiences at UNC Health and UNC SOM. Understanding this is critical to knowing how best to continue building a culture that is welcoming, respectful, equitable and inclusive for all.

We hope that you participate in this survey so that your voice is heard. Your perspectives are important to us and we value you and your feedback.

Based on feedback from the 2020 DEI Survey, new programs, trainings and DEI discussion sessions were implemented across the system including: leadership development and training focused on DEI, Teammate Virtual Forums, and increased programming, outreach and events coordinated by our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). DEI and Health Equity strategic goals have been developed and Audrea Caesar, PhD, is the newly appointed Chief Diversity Equity and Inclusion officer.  In addition, a Paid Parental Leave benefit is now available, and a Position and Salary Equity Review project is underway.

The 2022 DEI Climate Survey, Feb. 8 – 26, provides an opportunity for you to continue to provide feedback on our DEI Strategy. By taking this confidential survey, you can share your thoughts on what we are doing well and opportunities for improvement, so we can all work together to make the School of Medicine and UNC Health One Great Team.
