Three faculty members have been named to leadership roles in the UNC School of Medicine Application Phase for the upcoming academic year.
Care of Specific Populations (CSP) Psychiatry
Dana Doctor, MD, is serving as course director for CSP Psychiatry. Doctor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry who has been deeply invested in medical education since her residency in psychiatry at UNC-Chapel Hill. Since July 2020, she has served as the Associate Clerkship Director for CSP Psychiatry, preparing her well for this current leadership role. She takes over for Erin Malloy, MD, who served as course director for many years.
Hospital, Interventional, and Surgical Care (HISC) Medicine
Beginning in Trimester 2, Raquel Reyes, MD, will assume the role of co-course director for HISC Medicine as the representative from Internal Medicine. An Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Reyes completed medical school and residency in the Harvard system. She joined the UNC-Chapel Hill faculty in 2015 and has served as a Patient-Centered Care tutor and Population Health seminar leader. She assumes this role from Christopher Klipstein, MD, who has led this course for 20 years.
Community Based Longitudinal Care (CBLC)
In July, Yee Lam, MD, PhD, will transition into co-leadership of CBLC as the representative from Family Medicine. Lam is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and alumni of the UNC School of Medicine who earned multiple degrees at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD at Duke University before matriculating into medical school. Throughout her medical career, Lam has been highly engaged in medical education, teaching in every phase of the UNC School of Medicine curriculum in both classroom and clinical settings. She takes over for Kelly Bossenbroek-Fedoriw, MD, who led CBLC since its inception.
