For users who have an MFA prompt configured, Microsoft has implemented a new number match system that helps prevent account compromises. A number will be displayed on the system where the logon occurs, and the user must enter that number directly into the MFA prompt to complete the verification.
The two-step verification experience for Microsoft 365 will change on May 24.
